Exactly -- I’m listening to some background on American elections and what they called a “feeder system” for other levels; it’s not out of the box to think the UCP, and CPC, would want to emulate that.
It’s worth wondering if that’s why there’s lower turnout as well; you can read up on someone and not feel you have enough info but if it’s a party affiliate, they feel they have enough to make a decision.

Adding party affiliation to municipal election ballots gives the lazy voters even more reason to avoid researching the candidates. Ugh. Terrible idea
