I have the pleasure of being in the US this week. But I've consciously changed my past practice of avoiding all political talk with my colleagues, a mix of Democrats, as well as both Trump-hating and Trump-loving Republicans. So when one of them quipped something about the border yesterday, he got a bit of an earful. I think it surprised him, coming from one of those polite Canadians.
I'm done with being polite on this topic. Not with my country at stake.
Let's be real though. It is possible or likely that if Leblanc had said directly that Canada will protect its interest in the face of the Trump threat, the reporter would have asked if that protection would include our military. Which then would have had the wacko Trump administration immediately saying that we had declared war on the US. We are dealing with crazy people at the helm of the US government now. It is good to see ordinary Canadians all over social media stating, firmly, that they are ready to die to protect Canada from Trump. That is a good thing. But I do want a federal government, and the provincial governments, to walk softly and carry a big stick. Again, at present the US is in full psychosis. Yelling at the patient will further provoke him; we need to be much smarter than that.
The US has more than half the water of the Great Lakes. Alaska has glaciers galore. There is also a massive freshwater resource off the northeast coast of the US. The Americans can keep their goddamned hands off of our water, and concentrate on reducing their own consumption where it makes sense (which includes much of the US land mass) and distributing what they already have inside their own borders and waters. https://news.climate.columbia.edu/2019/06/20/undersea-freshwater-aquifer-northeast/
Just an FYI, there is no way on earth that the Liberals bought and built the Trans mountain “because they were trying to get Christie Clarke elected”!
Crusty has always been and will always BE a Conservative. The BC “liberals” is the biggest misnomer and takeout in Canadian politics. The party came from the ashes of the Social Credit party which was created by the Right in Alberta decades ago and spread to BC. While they may call themselves “liberals” they in no way represented any aspect of the Liberal ideology and based everything they did on the Conservative one.
That whole charade about running for the leadership of the Liberals was theatre at its best and it’s what Crusty does best as well, fake people out. She is a Card carrying member of the Conservative federal party, has donated to it and voted in their leadership races!
No — Harper held off on pushing it between 2013-15 because he didn’t want to risk her re-election. She tried to come up with a solution before the 2017 election and, well, you know what happened next.
I want a Canada MAGA hat that says Make America Go Away
This
I'd buy one.
Like 👍🏻 that!!!😎

Canada has water, the US needs it. Another strategic resource.

Kenney was in Harper’s cabinet.
