Shapiro is one of the earliest awful blogosphere Trumpy choads to bloviate on Canadas illegitimacy as a country and why it should be annexed!

How hard do you have to be slapped across the face to get it through your thick skull you are being played?

Smith is such a damned fool! Is she stupid? Incompetent? Corrupt? She’s quickly striking the likelihood of the first two characterizations!

Her after the fact wrapping herself in an Alberta flag to explain away her earnest quisling is tragically pathetic.

She would say she’s “trusting”. And when everyone knows she can be played like a fiddle, no one should support her representing them.

How can we get rid of her? Isn’t it another two years? She already did so much damage with AHS and a 5.2 billion deficit. I was so disappointed when she got elected but there are so many conservatives here in Alberta and they all still believe that they are good for the economy. Drives me crazy 🤪🤪

She has no loyalty, to party or country, and her "mandate" came from the sixth ballot for the UCP leadership.

Well-written and persuasive, Deirdre.

I really enjoyed this, Deirdre. I'm from Central Canada and although dismayed, am in a hurry to educate myself on the cause of the ongoing animosity stemming from AB and to a lesser extent SK. You have helped me in this process simply by reinforcing many of my suspicions of your Premier and supporters and allayed some others that most in AB do not agree with her and do in fact endorse Canada. Thank you.

Hi Michael, I suggest looking into the Koch Bros influence in developing the oilsands. They’ve since divested, only after profits disappeared and they imprinted their culture on the Province.

Of all the things that might be debatable (including many only so when one of the debaters is blind - willfully or otherwise) one thing is undeniable, even by the most partisan. Ms. Smith takes a diplomatic, friendly, and passive stance with Washington and the interests there, and a brash, belligerent, and aggressive stance with Ottawa and the interests there.

Albertans are finding ourselves at the receiving end of a lot of angry criticism, more than ever before since Danielle Smith went rogue and decided to speak for not just Alberta but for Canada too.

A few things I have to say about Danielle Smith. She is not going to the U.S. constantly for Canada. She's not even going to the U.S. for Alberta. She is making all these trips on taxpayer's dimes for herself, the U.S. and to please her waning voter base.

Smith surely does manage to squeeze her way into the darkest of Maga corners just like a dirty rats do. She is the dumpster fire that is threatening to turn into a province-wide wildfire. With all she and her equally as corrupt caucus and MLAs have sold off so much of Alberta's public/tax funded social programs so badly it will take an NDP provincial government more than 1 term and billions of dollars to undo the damage.

Then there's the fact that the private healthcare contracts are costing Albertans far more than the publicly funded healthcare with no improvement in service or wait lists. Add to that the coal mining contract the UCP signed with the Australian corporation secretly against the wishes of people in the southwest of Alberta and most Albertans. I ask just howl are the UCP serving Albertans? There's article upon article confirming that coal mining pollutes the water shed not just in the close vicinity but all the way downstream from the mountains runoff. Those toxin affect everything in that area.. water, land, flora, fauna, human beings negatively. The coal dust resulting from blasting is also toxic. In spite of the law banning open pit coal mining, it's been revealed this new contract gives the corporation an exemption. It's always money and profit before people and climate change with this UCP government especially.

That's why I'm doing whatever possibly withing legal boundaries to prevent Smith and the UCP from forming a government ever again.

Thanks for that, Sharon — I appreciate there’s more that Smith has done policy-wise, but I am not enough of a policy wonk to go into too much detail about them. Once in a while I’ll pick something up (budget, or cuts) but it’s usually because a bunch of folks who are policy people have been laying it out enough for me to pick it up.

I read enough as it is — my deep dives are only thanks to a great memory and the fact that I’ve written about it so often over the years.

I appreciate it is a near overwhelming task keeping up with all that's gone on in Alberta in what seems like far longer than just since Smith & the UCP were elected. I hope you understand I was agreeing with you and just adding more to it as I remember. Unfortunately there is even more with all the programs Smith has slashed, like assistance for abused women and their children just for 1.

If you have the time and you're not already doing this, might I suggest watching The Breakdown podcasts with host Nate Pike on most social media platforms. He first broke the story of Turkish Tylenol, Sam Mraiche, Danielle Smith, some of her MLAs and the gift of free NHL playoff tickets and very expensive private Skyboxes they were photographed in together. He and his team dig deep into what's going on with the UCP and they have documented proof. That didn't stop them from filing a slander suit against him, attempts to get him fired and a gag order. All of which were overturned except a judgment of money pending the outcome of the inquiries. Nate is thprough and careful to get foip proof and links, etc.

On December 17, 2014, Smith announced that she, deputy leader Rob Anderson, and seven other Wildrose MLAs were crossing the floor to join the PCs. Smith had criticized two other Wildrose MLAs for defecting to the PCs a month earlier; she had publicly stated that "there'll be no more floor crossings." - From Wikipedia

In 2014 she betrayed her party and her constituents to join Jim Prentice's Progressive Conservative Party. Ten years later, she appears to have crossed the floor again, betraying both her province and her country. Nice article, Deirdre.

It seems “BIG OIL” tends to corrupt; always looking to get richer and more favours from the government, the rest of the nation be damned. And no matter how much they get, they complain that Ontario treats them badly.

$35 billion pipeline, fuel subsidies, taxpayer funded cleanup of abandoned well, they were suppose to cleanup themselves, approval of every new oil/gas project

Heck, I just want roads that last in Manitoba. I’m not greedy😉🤣

And this weekend Smith, the cowardly worshipper of all things American, the Canadian sellout, is accusing Mark Carney of being “disrespectful” of Alberta and her corrupt UCP Party. Man, if that isn't the putrid, pouting pot calling the shiny kettle black, I really don't know what qualifies!
