Funny how a few years ago I thought it couldn’t get any worse then Kenney. Danielle Smith is a corrupt self serving conspiracy theorist. She and the UCP have and will continue to only serve their billionaire overlords.
There’s always a risk that the next one could be worse than Danielle. When the electorate seems more willing to fight liberals than to fight for decent government… (shrug)
Great article. It's certainly an interesting case with so many twists and turns. Hard to wrap your head around it. I think some more truth will come to light soon 😉
Great article shining further light on corruption in Alberta politics.
"Qui bono" from the "about face" on coal policy by our Minister of Energy, Brian Jean, who was so opposed to coal mining on the Eastern Slopes that he wrote a letter to the Calgary Herald.
How many pieces of silver to give him such a "Damascus Moment"?
Am quite certain Mr Jason Kenney can step up & help explain the Financial & Fiduciary evolutions & processes within the UCP - Safeguards & Vetting. Certainly Mr Pierre Poilievre is highly knowledgeable & informed as The Alberta Model & Supply Chain. It’s well know he Fully Endorses Danielle Smith as Premier and intends to utilize The Alberta Model as soon as he’s acclaimed Prime Minister & presumably Jason Kenney can greatly assist as well. And certainly both can attest to the Medical Science Experience, Clinical Background & Vision of Ms LaGrange ! Former Prime Minister Stephen Harper, currently controlling AIMCO via his Firm & Ray Novak etc can provide trusted assurance as well !
This is also the Advantage of other highly experienced Healthcare Exemplars such as Stephen Lecce in Ontario with similar Expertise learning from Doug Fore.. and certainly experts such Stockwell Day, Mr Manning, Jamie Ellerton, Jenni Byrne & Tom Flanagan must know all the Key Healthcare Consultants in the business.. whether at Federal, Provincial or Civic Levels
Has the Catholic Church stepped up with its vast Clinical, Hospital & Administration support ? It’s important we realize all this Healthcare Expertise is deeply Integrated within the UCP & Conservative Party of Canada plus certain other Provinces respective Conservative Political Parties. So Ms Smith & her Party Leader can draw on the same Consultants & Public Relations & Think Tanks to rally round Albertans needs
A lot of our prairie family are Albertans .. as well as in BC, Manitoba, Ontario, Yukon, Quebec & Maritmes.. & many look to me for explanations due to my background in CME - Accredited Continuing Medical Education & extensive contacts via Social Media. It helps too that I’m quite a student of Political Science, Elected Public Service & Communications - as well as somewhat expert regarding Political Propaganda & Partisan Media.& Ideology.
I do like to be helpful - as well as ‘Network with Exemplars in many Fields of Endeavour
& Alberta is very dear to me as a Senior Canadian - feel free to reach out anytime won’t you !
As part of her leadership bid, Premier Smith promised to fire Dr. Hinshaw for her part in the government response to the pandemic. Immediately after, guess what happened. And then AH had the wherewithal to rehire Dr. Hinshaw and give her a contract that was immediately quashed either by or upon orders of the premier's Office. Premier Smith's declared antipathy, I believe, lead to her ordering Dr. Hinshaw's firing both times.
It is a very short step from that interference to believing that, in spite of her assertions to contrary, Premier Smith knew of and condoned the Tylenol and surgery contracts. The subsequent AH firings also continue her habit of terminating the contracts of those she disagreed with.
From Redford to Kenney to Smith, when will Albertans realize the corruption that percolates within their “conservative” representatives? Illegal actions in government must not ever be acceptable. Kenney walked away unscathed from his election cheating, will Smith?
Although, if they call after Trump finishes firing people who were hired for their brains over their association with fox infotainment, they might give a much different answer.
The key- the corruption is ‘deep in the public service’ ie the bureaucracy in both the government and AHS. I regret that Ms. Smith didn’t route out that rot first thing- she needed to take a lesson from Trump.
They’re all connected to Sam Mraiche, who is helpful to Smith. And he was helpful to Kenney. She just did a press conference and said she’s not interested in finding out if more cushy contracts went to him. “We’re not on a witch hunt,” she said.
But also… Trump isn’t rooting out corruption — he’s making sure there won’t be anyone who will protect the public interest over his own. There’s a big difference.

Many thanks! The important thing for today is that people realize it's deep into the public service. And that it didn't start in 2024.
Make a great tv series! Who would play Danielle!
Meryl Streep or the late Lucille Ball(RIP) spring to mind.
Not quite a coup de grace, but they lay there, mortally wounded. Will any mercy be shown? Well done as always, Deirdre.
Thank you, David :)
Very well written. Thank you.
She is the scandal. Called it on day 1
Fantastic journalism and investigation. Important caution re how things just quietly gather momentum and how often no one taps the brakes.
An excellent Substack post. The rot and corruption in the UCP is so immense.

I believe you probably meant to say “alleged absolute crap”.
Nope haha — that’s when she said “if anyone is (spreading chemtrails over Alberta), it’s the U.S. department of defence.”

The problem is that she’s okay with it.
