If Albertans were offered a choice between suffering through a recession with Canada or possibly succeeding on their own, which do you think they'd choose?
A sobering thought presented here. The Tariffs, and Trump generally, probably do not present the “existential threat” to Canada that some people claim. It is the UPC’s actions amplified by those of His Majesty’s Loyal Opposition that pose the real threat to Canada. We can live through a recession and even an economic realignment if necessary. We’re going to have to either way. We can’t keep spending the way we have been and now we have to allocate so much more to our military - some painful cuts and hard times seem inevitable. We’ve been through worse and this will pass. We will still remain among the rich countries of the world and potentially rebound stronger than ever, unless… - unless mindless populism allows enemies of Canada (Smith, Trump, Musk, Putin) and their inadvertent self-serving enablers (Poilievre) to cause us to self-destruct.
Trudeau definitely flew down for dinner to talk tariffs. Even if Alberta separatists wanted to become the 51st state (and a few do), I doubt that’s on the table. Smith, however, might find the Alberta separatists start demanding she try and move on separation if the tariffs come (which I argued that they likely will because it’s about American jobs — not just “border security”).
This made me think. What better than an essay that makes you think! Thanks.
Now that sounds like a great thing to share :)
The 🍊🤡 is a bully.
Why people support someone like Trump? Stupidity. Poor values and morality.
If Alberta separated, would the drive to BC be shorter?
