Do you think there's more Pete Guthries and Scott Sinclair's? Honest question, I don't know the UCP caucus well.

I feel like there's more Myles McDougalls than Pete Guthries.

To be fair, I didn’t even know those two were as awesome until they got out from under the leader’s thumb.

In many ways they’re not awesome, and push an enormous amount of nonsense. However, it turns out that they’re actually committed to their nonsense with genuine principles, which sharply divides them from the rest of the UCP

When Kenney tossed Derek Fildebrandt out of the party, he became a much better representative. I don’t know that Guthrie or Sinclair ever reached the level of performative nonsense that DF was at.

Peter Guthrie and Scott Sinclair seem to have what Danielle Smith and the rest of the UCP have. That's called a conscience.

This is so [expletive deleted] discouraging. I wish it didn't make so much sense.

Excellent analysis! Sometimes politics in AB seems like a merry-go-round, yet the world around everyone is changing, while AB goes in circles and they haven't changed the music... sigh ...

So to summarize, Alberta is a democracy that behaves like a one party state because the citizens fall into three groups. Those that don’t know any better, we’ll call them the stupid, those that are too lazy to care, we’ll call them the lazy and those that don’t understand the previous two groups and are dumbfounded,we’ll call them the confused. Sounds like a Clint Eastwood movie. This was crystallized when I was riding in a shuttle in Mexico and a Colorado couple were apologizing for the US’s shoddy treatment of Canada and how they were going to plan a vacation to BC because they admired Canada. Then at the next stop an Albertan (teacher on spring break) from Calgary jumps in and hearing that the couple were from Colorado pipes up and explains that when the US invades Canada , we will be throwing flowers at their feet. “Festus” jumped off at the next stop, running into oncoming traffic but unfortunately survived. Festus is educated, urban and simple. Maybe there aren’t three groups after all. Just one.

Under NO circumstances do I support the UCP, Republicans or Conservatives, period. Are people blind to what’s going on, I’m starting to think so.
