What the hell is going on with Postmedia opinion in Alberta?
Seriously, guys -- whose side are you on?
The Calgary B-list columnists needed a break after their wretched couple of weeks doubling and tripling down on the worst takes our amalgamated SUN/Herald publication has printed since Canada bought us a pipeline.
So, the brilliant minds running the show brought in someone else today who could quadruple down on the same play while the regular old hats take a day off to update their blood pressure medication and find someone who wants to hear about how victimized they’ve been for marshalling Premier Smith’s parade against Canada.
“We’re thinking in terms of 25% tariffs,” Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said.
Oh, wait; that wasn’t Trudeau.
“They should (give up their provincial jurisdiction),” said Trudeau.
Well colour this twisted typist surprised; that wasn’t Trudeau either.
It was the heinous blob of actual manure for brains that Premier Smith has been trying to cozy up to for months.
If it was Prime Minister Justin Trudeau who threatened our economy, our jobs, and our livelihoods, every Albertan would be justified in losing what is left of their patience, but it wasn’t — so, why is the American-owned and hedge fund-backed “paper of record” printing this bottom-of-the-barrel swill for consumption?
Yes, your keyboard-tapper questioned the loyalty of a person who saw an opportunity to benefit herself and crossed the floor without even a farewell glance after she wrote, “I am humbled and honoured to have the unanimous support of my caucus colleagues. We will continue to hold the government to account and present positive alternatives that put Albertans first.”
Damned right I did.
Yet these “voices of the people” sought not to ask wtaf the leader of the provincial government was doing fangirling over meeting the person who was, and still is, actually threatening the livelihoods of every Albertan without a government paycheque, and every Canadian… because there’s a Trudeau in Ottawa?
”We’ve been down this road before,” they said — about a different Prime Minister from a different era.
Hey, guys? The 1980’s called — they want their grievances back.
There is an actual person who turned her back on people who trusted her, barely a decade ago, and they feel it’s somehow equivalent to the fact that a half century ago, the current Prime Minister’s father did something even he admitted wasn’t the best tactic?
I recently said the incoming President of the U.S. should be labelled an enemy of the state for threatening the livelihoods of our people and sovereignty of our nation.
I said it because we may live in Alberta, but we are mostly proud Canadians, too.
We may have our squabbles with Ottawa but they are not the threat to us today — the threat is coming from beyond our border and we need to band together to protect it.
If all we can expect is a foreign-owned, foreign-funded “paper of record” shoving American-centric propaganda down our throats, they deserve a warning label far more than a government handout.

Preach!
You just noticed that post media was shilling for right wing thought, American interests and wacko Alberta libertarians? I cancelled my subscription to these rags back in 2021. I started a Facebook Group called Edmonton Local News by Edmontonians, to cover the news and opinions that Postmedia had gone silent on. I stopped supporting what I called ”UCP Pravda” by not subscribing to or even reading the once respectable Edmonton Journal.
